bintec R3000w
High-end wireless ADSL router with IPSec and ISDN.

The bintec R3000w is a fully equipped, flexible IP router with an integrated ADSL modem and a wireless interface designed to meet exacting demands. The features also include a four-port switch, ISDN backup and the option of activating additional IPSec tunnels and hardware acceleration. The router is already equipped with five active IPSec tunnels and a second WAN port to connect an external xDSL modem or create a DMZ (“demilitarized zone”). ADSL2 and ADSL2+ are also supported.
As a wireless router, the bintec R3000w supports the 802.11b/g standards with a gross throughput rate of 54 or 11 Mbps. In addition to WEP encryption, the secure WPA mode using preshared keys or the integration of a Radius server is available to secure data transmission via the air interface and 802.1x polices access on the port level. Multi SSID makes it possible to create a number of different user groups, each with its own guidelines and access privileges. Thanks to the WDS function (Wireless Distribution System), it is possible to realize wireless infrastructures for applications in which a wired solution would be too expensive or not technically feasible.
The comprehensive IPSec implementation supports the set-up of secure VPN infrastructures. Straight from the factory, the router is already equipped with five active IPSec tunnels. 3DES or AES is used for encryption, authentication can be provided with preshared keys or certificates. The integration of a Radius server also presents no problem. Additional VPN tunnels can be activated by purchasing a corresponding license. To prevent any loss in performance, it is also possible to add optional hardware acceleration.
Thanks to the integrated ADSL modem, this device can be used for a variety of different purposes. A second separate WAN port enables the connection of an external xDSL modem and, with the help of the load-balancing function, the two WAN connections can be utilized to their full capacity. System stability can be further enhanced by setting up an automated ISDN backup. And the ISDN interface can also be used for remote access for configuration or support.
A wide variety of different software features round out this device. The stateful inspection firewall provides protection from attacks from the outside, while Content Filtering* makes it possible to screen out web contents before they reach the internal network. The integrated PPPoE client/server function defines user-specific rules and regulations for the use of the Internet. QoS mechanisms can be activated to ensure the optimal exploitation of the bandwidth and to make required service features available. The configuration of the routers is easy with the help of the HTTP Configuration Wizard (recommended for inexperienced users). Estimated availability of R3000w is2006/Q2.
* Content Filtering is subject to payment and is available as a 30-day trial version.
