WiLMA – Wireless LAN Management Application
Before Loosing Control of Your Network: Manage Your Wireless LAN in Centralized Mode.
WLAN: A technology grows up.
Mobility, flexibility, ample bandwidths: the childhood days of Wireless LAN are well over. The fast spreading of WLAN on the private sector continues at top speed in the field of enterprise communications. Instead of providing only parts of the company with WLAN, for instance individual departments, networks are today increasingly designed as an integral part of the IT infrastructure, covering the complete corporation.
Wireless complete solutions with many access points, however, make new demands on the organization and on the economically efficient operation of the WLAN. A management tool for wireless infrastructures assists the administrator from the start in keeping control of his WLAN.
The larger the network, the higher the demands
In the case of smaller-sized networks with a few devices, the individual configuration of the access points is a manageable task. Regular control of the functions and occasional updates of the firmware already settle half of the score. With growing number of WLAN access points and wireless communications ranges, however, the eff ort increases exponentially and quickly exceeds the limits of what can reasonably be done. As a result, large-scale networks oft en display a “grown” pattern of defects in the course of time, which results from incompatibilities and a lack of maintenance and additionally hampers troubleshooting efforts.
Simple administration: WiLMA assists you.
WiLMA, the WLAN management solution by Funkwerk, is a software application in the client/server architecture which permits you to centrally monitor, control, and maintain all Funkwerk access points in medium- and large-scale wireless LANs — quickly, efficiently, and conveniently.
The application of WiLMA may already pay off for WLANs with less than 10 access points, depending on the design of the WLAN in question. Network functions can be confi gured globally or related to groups. Recurrent tasks can be automated. New devices can be commissioned “out of the box” and maintained from remote. In addition to permanent status monitoring, the performance data can be captured in regular intervals and evaluated, if required.
After a short time, WiLMA considerably supports the administrator and leads to a higher operational safety of the WLAN infrastructure — an investment which pays off quickly.
May I introduce myself? My name is WiLMA.
All Functions in an Overview
Via the graphical user interface, WiLMA off ers fast access to all core functions. Context-sensitive menus and individually configurable workspaces, so-called cockpits, allow you to maintain an overview of your operations at all times and to gain the required information in a very short time.
The creation of configuration profiles, the selective access to the device data of specifi c access points, the configuration of groups and projects, as well as the administration of common features of the access points can all be performed with a few mouse-clicks.
Complete Inventory and Efficient Operation
WiLMA helps you to gain control of your wireless LAN right from the start - no matter whether you are systematically designing a large-scale network on the drawing board or whether your networks is growing step by step. The database-driven clientserver system permits the complete inventory of all WLAN devices, as well as the organization in groups and projects.
WiLMA monitors and controls devices of the funkwerk W Series for office environments just like the access points of the funkwerk WI Series for industrial application - granting seamless integration. The proven single, dual or triple radio variants make no difference in this respect: WiLMA does not only confi gure individual devices, but also off ers you a functional, network-oriented overview. As a result, you can fully concentrate on the configuration of the wireless access services you wish to off er to your users.
Fast Commissioning - Automated and Free from Errors
WiLMA permits a centralized defi nition of confi guration profiles and firmware versions. This eliminates the risk of errors occurring during the individual confi guration of single devices. Moreover, the integration of new access points is considerably accelerated.
After commissioning, new demands may occasionally make it necessary to change the configuration, for instance to extend the installation or to confi gure guest accesses. Such tasks can be fulfilled with WiLMA in a trice: no matter whether networks with 10, 20, 50, or hundreds of access points are concerned - the effort will remain just as low.
