Funkwerk Enterprise Communications introduces their new WLAN Industrial Adapter. The bintec WI Client can be operated at temperatures up to 70 Celsius. It is therefore particularly suited to interconnect e.g. machines in industrial production via WLAN. The connection of mobile installations is also possible. Fork lift trucks, for instance, can easily and quickly be integrated into a WLAN. In combination with an access point of the bintec WI series, which sets up the LAN connection, data, such as logistics information, can be transferred directly to the corresponding systems in the corporate network and can be processed there. Release 7.8.2 concludes the platform integration for the product groups IP Access and Wireless LAN.
More functions for the access points of Funkwerk Enterprise Communications: With release 7.8.2, all routing functions implemented in the gateways of the bintec R series will also become available for the access points in mid-December. This is of particular interest to the industrial sector. With the access points of the bintec WI series of FEC, companies will only require one device to connect production sites or large-scale storage and production halls via WLAN to the corporate network in the future. With release 7.8.2, Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH, a company of Funkwerk AG, concludes the platform integration of the IP access and WLAN products. New Release 1.9 for the PacketAlarm UTM Series
FEC upgrades its PacketAlarm UTM (Unified Threat Management) series. Release 1.9 is now available featuring SSL-VPN based secure data connections, extended e-mail security and VLAN support for setting up virtual security zones. Thus, Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH, a Funkwerk AG company, has once again significantly expanded the functional scope of its IT security appliances.
Secure Data Connection with SSL-VPNs
With the current release 1.9, PacketAlarm UTM systems support SSL-VPNs, providing external employees with fast and secure access to the corporate network via the SSL encrypted VPN connection. The number of VPN connections is not limited by software, the associated SSL-VPN client for Windows operating systems is free of charge. Configuration of the SSL-VPN client is very easy: The user can obtain the necessary configuration file either from the administrator or directly by downloading it from the UTM system, the automatic set up of the VPN client is started by double-clicking the configuration file. [more...]

Release 7.6.5 for bintec TR200 implements the connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
With release 7.6.5, available as of now, Funkwerk Enterprise Communications (FEC) implements the all-out connection of its Unified Access Gateway bintec TR200 to the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. MS Outlook, known to many users as an e-mail program, thus, becomes the personal communications center of the employee in the company: bintec TR200 e.g. sends alerts for missed calls. Moreover, the Exchange Server works as a voice mailbox. While on the move, the user can have his or her e-mails read out or can query appointments, for instance via a mobile phone. The authorization is performed by entering a PIN number. With release 7.6.5, bintec TR200 supports up to 10 SIP extensions instead of 4, as before. [more...]

If company sites are to be networked via Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Funkwerk Enterprise Communications (FEC) recommends to use IPsec connections with certificates. For the communication within the company, this ensures vital parameters such as confidentiality of the information transferred, authenticity of the communication partners, and integrity of the data, meaning that the data has not been tampered with. IPSec connections with certificates are safer to implement than the procedure with the so-called pre-shared keys, i.e. keys which are previously exchanged between the communications partners. Certificate-based IPSec is very frequently used for the networking of several company sites with VPNs (Virtual Private Networks). The new S series completes the offer of network components.
Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH (FEC), introduces a new product family with the S series: the switches complete the existing portfolio of network components. In a first step, FEC will introduce three different devices into the market. The S208 connects up to 8 network devices at high bandwidths and with minimum configuration effort.
