Funkwerk: elmeg ICT—Communication with Microsoft Exchange
FEC extend the range of connectable external applications
NUREMBERG. Funkwerk Enterprise Communications (FEC) extend the range of connectable external applications by the connection of the ICT systems family elmeg ICT to the Unified Messaging System Microsoft (MS) Exchange.

With this extension, FEC improves the availability of employees and helps to accelerate business processes.

The Exchange Server is connected to the elmeg ICT via IP SIP PBXs. The settings required for the configuration of SIP subscribers are entered into the WIN tools. The Exchange Server services all connected telephones, no matter whether they are installed in the head office or in the subsidiaries. With the new "blind transfer" function, the calls are transferred by the ICT systems without pre-announcement.

Each systems or standard telephone connected to elmeg ICT, thus, offers the complete scope of voice mail functions and provides a proper mailbox for each subscriber. Incoming voice mails are transferred and signaled to the user as audio files in MS Outlook.

Full Scope of Utilization via Voice
According to the setup, it is possible to use further MS Exchange Services. The voice-controlled Auto-Attendant, for instance, is an automatic response system which connects the subscriber to the department or extension in question and supports 16 languages. Moreover, the Auto-Attendant supports direct inward dialing (DID) and offers the option to search for the subscriber to be called in the address book of MS Outlook. Additionally, the Auto-Attendant offers an authentication service for dialed numbers, as well as automatic speech recognition (ASR).

With the "Voice Messaging" service, MS Exchange provides access to e-mails, appointments, voice messages, and contacts by means of voice application and audio-dialing via the elmeg ICT. While on the move, the user can have his or her e-mails read out or can query appointments, for instance via a mobile phone. The authorization is performed by entering a PIN number. Moreover, this function permits the voice control of Outlook messages. Fax receipt according to T.38 is supported, as well.

The new Firmware Release 7.60 for the connection to MS Exchange of the elmeg ICT series is available for download on the FEC homepage.
