NUREMBERG. Funkwerk Enterprise Communications (FEC) have developed the new media gateways bintec R1200-VoIP and bintec R4100-VoIP to support voice and fax applications. By means of the extended remote CAPI, which was especially developed for these purposes, the gateways permit the virtualization of fax and unified communications servers and close the long-yawning gap between the old and new IT environment.
The new bintec media gateways offer comprehensive T.30 fax support and have already been successfully certified in this environment by Funkwerk's technology partners Tobit und Servonic. As a rule, virtualization decreases the demand for hardware components, leading to reduced server outage times and lower administrative and power consumption costs. In addition, the bintec gateways permit the reconfiguration, extension, and maintenance of the servers during operation.
The media gateways bintec R1200-VoIP and bintec R4100-VoIP support fax applications over the LAN and Internet—Fax over IP (FoIP) according to T.38, which is a real-time protocol performing fax transfer without delays. In this scenario, the devices can set up up to eight fax connections simultaneously. This conversion, which requires much computing power, is performed by digital signal processors and does not affect the other parts of the system, such as the VPN data rate. Moreover, it is possible to optionally couple conventional PBXs to SIP providers or to connect state-of-the-art VoIP PBXs to the ISDN BRI access (PSTN).
Comprehensive Multicast Support
The two media gateways bintec R1200-VoIP and bintec R4100-VoIP are multifunctionally equipped and can be applied in a flexible manner. The comprehensive multicast support makes the devices ideally suited for the use in multimedia and streaming environments. Ex-factory, the bintec media gateways are already provided with ten active IPSec tunnels, including hardware acceleration and encryption. Up to 100 additional VPN tunnels can be activated using a flexible license model. The bintec R1200-VoIP can be purchased at a net price of Euro 619. The bintec R4100-VoIP is now available at a net price of
Euro 1099.
