WiLMA is there – the Wireless LAN Management Solution from Funkwerk
Simple commissioning and administration of wireless networks
WiLMA is there– Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH (FEC), a Funkwerk AG company, presents WiLMA - its new wireless LAN management system. The new management software supports administrators in commissioning WLAN infrastructures and in daily maintenance tasks. Through central management, WiLMA considerably reduces costs for rollouts and maintenance of company-wide WLANs. System houses also have the option of remote maintenance of their customers’ WLANs, for example as managed services against payment
.
When commissioning access points, WiLMA enables comprehensive inventory of devices and their organization in projects and groups – for example by departments. The configuration of network parameters is not device-dependent, but group-based instead. This accelerates the commissioning of new devices given a subsequent expansion of the WLAN. Configuration parameters stored centrally in WiLMA can be transferred to new devices via the corporate network.

Group-based configuration also simplifies maintenance of the wireless network. For instance, the management software takes care of installing firmware updates for access points or for a defined device group. Central management therefore ensures consistent configuration of all devices and reduces the risk of errors inherent in manual configuration of individual devices.
Furthermore, graphic processing of information on device and network status simplifies proactive network management. So the administrator regularly receives performance data, such as the load of the WLAN and of the access points, in order to prevent bottlenecks in the network in good time.
The integration of central administration through WiLMA, while at the same time using the decentralized intelligence of the funkwerk access points, offers significantly improved investment protection and a high degree of future-proofing than a conventional, centralized WLAN controller/switch solution, as well as a high level of cost-effectiveness and availability.

WiLMA at a glance
