Extended E-mail Security in Release 1.80.0 of Funkwerk Unified Threat Management Systems
Release 1.80.0 now available on the FEC website

NUREMBERG. With its Release 1.80.0, Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH (FEC), a Funkwerk AG company, expands the functional scope of its UTM family. Numerous new evaluation options, such as the number of spam mails identified, a new user portal, and a quarantine area for spam and virus mails, once again enhance user convenience of the UTM system significantly.

Release 1.80.0 implements extensive statistical evaluation options for the funkwerk UTM systems. For example, administrators can determine how many e-mails the UTM system has received in total, how many were identified as spam and viruses or which content filter categories were accessed how often by network users. As graphic overviews, this information is available to the administrator in the newly designed monitoring area of the Funkwerk UTM systems. Furthermore, information on infrastructure, e.g. how much bandwidth is occupied up by HTTP and FTP, is therefore clearly presented. There is also a summary page for an even faster overview. The administrator can define which evaluations are displayed here.

In the funkwerk UTM1500, funkwerk UTM2100 and funkwerk UTM2500 systems with integrated hard disk, the new release provides a quarantine zone for unwanted e-mails. So virus and spam mails can be called up from POP3 and stored in the UTM systems rather then being sent to the recipients with a corresponding flag. This has the advantage that the internal IT infrastructure in the company is not unnecessarily burdened with spam and virus e-mails. It also prevents clients coming into contact with viruses through an e-mail. Each individual user – or, if selected, only the administrator – can individually manage his/her own spam e-mails in his/her own personal user portal. Depending on the presetting made by the administrator, users can also keep their own black and white lists for spam recognition and set their own thresholds according to which spam and viruses are identified.

Release 1.80.0 for the funkwerk UTM family is now available for download on the Funkwerk Enterprise Communications website.

Statistics presented graphically in the Funkwerk UTM systems provid a quick overview of threats from the Internet.
