artem and bintec merge to form Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH
NUREMBERG. artem GmbH and bintec Access Networks GmbH – both companies belonging to the Funkwerk AG Enterprise Communications division – have merged effective on 1 October 2004 to form Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH. This is the next organizational step designed to consistently effect the convergence of voice and data. This merger also marks the first stage along the way to forming the division of the same name at Funkwerk AG, to which Funkwerk Enterprise Communications belongs, into a powerful organizational unit. The Sales and Marketing divisions of both companies were already consolidated in the summer of this year. The ultimate goal is to firmly establish the company as one of the leading suppliers of IP-based communications solutions for companies, public authorities and institutions throughout Europe.

A focus on voice-data convergence
In terms of technology, the company places a major focus on the development and marketing of innovative voice-data solutions. “Our goal is complete voice-data convergence,” commented Hans-Ekkehard Domröse, Chairman of the Funkwerk AG Enterprise Communications division. “The amalgamation of artem and bintec marks our first milestone in optimizing the structure of the Enterprise Communications division. And all this aims to position us as one of the leading suppliers of professional communications solutions throughout Europe. And our major focus is on the development of pioneering voice-data solutions. The development departments are already working on their first common products full force. More organizational changes will follow.”

IP-based data communications and wireless LAN
Funkwerk Enterprise Communications is a major European manufacturer of modern communications solutions with an extensive spectrum of complete solutions for the fields of IP-based data communications and wireless LAN. These two product lines will continue to be represented by the established brands of artem and bintec.

Optimized structures
Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH headquarters are located in Nuremberg, Germany, and all existing locations belonging to the former companies of artem and bintec will be retained. What the merger will produce in particular are synergies, in the branches of logistics, service and support as well as in administration. In addition, the development departments will profit from the expansion of know-how and resources by being able to focus more strongly on common projects and reducing time-to-market for the products. “With this integration, internal structures will be optimized and processes synchronized. That will save us money,” said Thomas von Baross, CSO, heading Marketing and Sales at Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH, with enthusiasm. “And what’s more: the complementary product range will now allow us to tap into new markets and customer circles. This is a very convenient situation for our resellers because there is no need to alter any contracts and there won’t be any changes in their contact persons at the company“.

International
The bintec country organizations already in existence will continue to operate under their current names for the time being. They will be assimilated at a later point in time. One of Funkwerk Enterprise Communications’ major goals is to expand the markets in Europe in particular. Thanks to the expanded product portfolio, the company will become more attractive and more competitive internationally as well.
