Funkwerk Enterprise Communications Starts Offensive for IT Security in Enterprises
NUREMBERG. Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH (FEC), a Funkwerk AG company, starts an offensive for IT security in enterprises. Until December 31, 2007, each customer who purchases a new Funkwerk UTM system with Kapersky anti-virus engine will additionally be granted a one-year Commtouch anti-spam license free of charge.

The Funkwerk Unified Threat Management Systems (UTM) offer all-round protection for enterprise networks with a single device. They permit the all-in protection of the IT infrastructure against hacker attacks, such as DoS attacks and backdoors, and against viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and spams. Thanks to the automatic online security update of all components, the systems are always kept state-of-the-art. Due to the integrated setup wizard, the UTMs of the Nuremberg-based full-line provider are ready for operation after only a few installation steps.

By means of the already integrated features firewall, application level gateway, VPN gateway, intrusion prevention system, and authentication module, Funkwerk UTM systems offer optimum and scalable protection against threats from the Internet. With its UTM product family, Funkwerk Enterprise Communications also addresses small-scale companies and offices. Funkwerk UTM systems, which were granted the Innovation Award 2007 of the German Initiative "Mittelstand" for the IT sector, are already available. The price also includes software and security updates during the first year.

With release 1.70.0, Funkwerk UTM systems can, for instance, be operated in a high-availability cluster and can, moreover, optionally be licensed with a content security add-on. Content security add-ons make it possible to grant or block the access for different users and/or user groups in the network to specific web site categories, for instance games, gambling, pornography, violence, shopping, finance, or IT. As a result, the application of a Funkwerk UTM system does not only increase the network security, but also permits enterprises to comply with the stipulations for the protection of minor employees and helps to increase the productivity of the staff. The release will first be available at the beginning of November.
