Funkwerk Enterprise Communications with New IPSec Client
Revised firewall concept – secure login at WLAN hotspot
NUREMBERG. Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH, a Funkwerk AG company, introduces a new version of the trusted VPN client‚ the ‘bintec Secure IPSec Client’. This software offers a revised firewall concept packed with a comprehensive range of features and provides, among other things, a secure login to public hotspots. To facilitate configuration, there is also an import function available for the first time. The bintec Secure IPSec Client establishes connections to all IPSec-enabled security gateways so that corporate branch offices, home offices and mobile employees can use VPN solutions to gain secure access to the corporate network. A 30-day test version of the bintec Secure IPSec Client is now available free of charge as a download from www.funkwerk-ec.com.

Security all the way round – even for public wireless LANs
The global firewall rules for use in remote access environments have been optimized and integrated permanently in the client software. The filter rules can be set up as address-oriented (for known networks) or user-oriented (for special applications). The client is protected from attacks at all times while the connection is being set up, even when accessing public WLAN hotspots: the firewall releases the ports required to log into the hotspot dynamically and allows data exchange with the network operator’s hotspot server only.

Importing configuration data
With the help of the import function in the client’s configuration menu, it is possible to import profile settings. These editable ASCII files enable efficient configuration, particularly for complex installation processes, and also convey the password protection of a configuration profile. The bintec Secure IPSec Client supports all the popular operating systems and allows dial-up into the corporate network via analog lines, ISDN, GSM, GPRS, and xDSL as well as via LAN or WLAN. As always, customers owning a license for any previous bintec Secure IPSec Client can update to the new version free of charge.

A 30-day fully functional test version of the bintec Secure IPSec Client is now available free of charge as a download from the download area.
