Internet security – all round protection from a single box
Funkwerk Enterprise Communications presents new UTM series
NUREMBERG. Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH (FEC), a Funkwerk AG company, presents its new “Funkwerk UTM” IP security appliances. FEC particularly orientates itself towards SMEs with its new product series. Unified threat systems, or UTMs, unify a wide range of security technologies. So they protect against the threat of viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spam, DoS attacks, backdoors and many other forms of hacker attacks. Funkwerk UTM excels by virtue of its especially easy configuration using the Express Setup Wizard. With its web-based configuration interface, the Funkwerk system is ready for use with just a few steps and in a very short time.
UTMs combine functions such as firewall, intrusion protection, appliance level gateway, VPN gateway, virus scanner and spam filter in a single appliance. Furthermore, the Funkwerk UTMs provide various authentication mechanisms, as well as a certificate server. The combination of the individual functions in a single system means the Funkwerk UTM solution protects companies efficiently against network-based attacks. All data are checked in real time and dangerous, undesirable data packets are stopped before they can exploit IT weak points in the network. New threats can be averted in good time with the integrated update mechanism.
Funkwerk UTM systems are equipped with fully-fledged virus protection even in the basic version. Funkwerk UTM means maximum protection at minimum cost and reduced administrator workload, because all security components in the Funkwerk UTM system already come optimally matched with one another. Funkwerk Enterprise Communications offers a broad product spectrum for different sizes of network: For 25 up to a maximum of 75 users, FEC introduces the Funkwerk UTM1500 model, and for 100 to 200 users there is the Funkwerk UTM2100. UTM systems for up to 10 and for more than 250 network users will follow in the course of the first half year. UTM1500 sells for 1,099 Euro and Funkwerk UTM2100 for 2,499 Euro excluding VAT. Both systems are available in February 2007. As an introductory offer, the automatic update service is provided free of charge with all UTM appliances for a period of twelve months.
The new product series from Funkwerk Enterprise Communications emerges from the takeover of the VarySys Technologies, the Stuttgart-based security specialists, and is based on established PacketAlarm technology.
Key functionalities of Funkwerk UTMs include:
•Multi-inspection firewall to analyse data packets and the connection status
•Network address translation (NAT) and port address translation (PAT), application level gateway to check incoming data for correctness and validity
•VPN gateway
•High performance intrusion detection/prevention engine with currently more than 6,000 rules and signatures
•Auto-prevention function for easy handling of all integrated rules and signatures
•Anti-virus scanner with integrated signature database
