NUREMBERG. Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH (FEC), a Funkwerk AG company, recently introduced the elmeg IP290, a Voice-over-IP telephone designed to meet modern business needs. An increasing number of users from the SoHo and business segments are now opting to migrate to IP telephony, aiming to achieve even greater cost efficiency and improve their workflow. With its first generation of IP telephones, FEC proves that switching to Voice-over-IP does not have to mean doing without convenience and product quality.
The two-line graphical display and the industrial-standard keypad arrangement allow intuitive operation. A height-adjustable device base makes the display easy to read. Five freely programmable keys find frequently called numbers quickly and set up the connection. The system also supports many of the features from the conventional telephone network, such as “call back when busy” or call forwarding. And the elmeg IP290’s address book memory is able to store up to 100 entries. Features also include a caller list and speed-dialing as well as call hold and call transfer. Calls on hold are indicated in the display and the waiting caller hears music – although this last feature is available only in connection with SIP.
Based on open standards and with support for SIP, the new IP telephone is bilingual in its design. An additional Ethernet port with VLAN support makes it possible to connect the IP telephone directly to a PC – an additional LAN port is not required.
The elmeg IP290 operates with such software as the Microsoft Messenger and the standard devices offered by other manufacturers. Using the components provided by different manufacturers, professional business users can now set up an IP system and adapt it ideally to meet their current needs. Connecting the elmeg IP290 directly to an SIP provider delivers inexpensive, uncomplicated IP communication for the SoHo segment. The elmeg IP290 is available in black at a retail price of EUR 169 (incl. sales tax.).
