In professional environments, laptops connected to the local network via wireless LAN are increasingly replacing stationary inflexible workstation PCs. Wireless solutions are also becoming more common in logistics centers, discounter outlets or hospitals, e.g. for mobile, touch-free data capturing or the integration of vehicles (e.g. forklifts). To avoid interferences in the radio link, it is usually necessary in industrial and logistics environments to examine network coverage in advance and to set up a wireless LAN infrastructure with a high number of access points.
This radio infrastructure is often also used for telephony. Especially in environments without DECT wireless network, major cost savings can thus be achieved. The operating costs can also be decreased because it is only necessary to administrate and maintain one wireless infrastructure.
