History
Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH was founded in October 2004 after the merger of the companies Artem GmbH and Bintec Access Networks GmbH. The corporation can draw on decade-long experience and profound know-how acquired by these companies. At the time of the foundation of FEC, both above-mentioned companies already belonged to the Enterprise Communication division of Funkwerk AG. In January 2005, FEC merged with Elmeg Communication Systems GmbH and in January 2006 with Funktel GmbH. These two companies were also already part of Funkwerk AG. In March 2006, Funkwerk IAD GmbH was founded to extend the carrier market segment. By means of the acquisition of Varysys GmbH in 2007, FEC further extended their solution portfolio with IP appliances and, thus, turned into a full-line provider for network and communications solutions.

FEC has two subsidiaries: Funkwerk IP-Appliances GmbH develops and distributes IT security solutions, while Funkwerk IAD GmbH is responsible for integrated access devices (IADs), respectively home gateways for carriers and Internet service providers (ISPs).
